Simply Empowered Counseling Center
Assisting in helping you create a better quality of life through self-empowerment and authentic choice would be my hope for you. Often, we feel overwhelmed when we struggle with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and unexpected life challenges. This can cause us to question our value in various aspects of life. Approaching the counseling process through curiosity, kindness, self-compassion, as well as empowerment and authenticity may lead to improved self-awareness and insight.

About Lynne

Lynne Cory, PhD, LPC is the owner and therapist at Simply Empowered Counseling Center. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 10 years of experience in the mental health field. Lynne became a counselor based on the realization that individuals carry knowledge and beliefs about themselves that, at times and for various reasons, they are unable to access. Her belief is that through the counseling process, clients may empower themselves to increase self-awareness and insight, and experience peace. Lynne is enthusiastic about working with adults, college students (18+), veterans, senior adults, and individuals with disabilities and chronic illness. Lynne specializes in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, relationships, aging, life transitions, women’s issues, grief/loss, and career counseling.
Lynne completed her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Clemson University. Her treatment approaches are based on individuals’ needs and may include acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), person-centered therapy, positive psychology, strengths-based therapies, solution-focused therapy (SFT), and trauma-focused therapies.

Information About Counseling
What’s one thing you wish all clients knew?
That they have the solutions to their challenges and struggles within them. They may not have this awareness, but through the counseling process, they can become empowered to acknowledge their strengths.
What do you want to accomplish with an individual in their first session?
Having an interactive session with the purpose of learning about you and what brings you to counseling. It is important to me that we begin to develop a rapport that will lead to a trusting, collaborative relationship. My approach with clients over the course of counseling is unconditional positive regard.
What should clients know about you before scheduling a first session?
I’m excited to get to know you! Even if this your first time in counseling, my goal is to provide an emotionally safe space for you. I hope we can work together to meet your goals. Please contact me to schedule an appointment.
